Like most people, when I was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes it was a very scary and unsure time. My head was full of questions like, “Why me?” and “What do I do now?” It was made worse as I was stuck in a French hospital for ten days with only one English speaking doctor. As a professional snowboarder, my main concern was how having diabetes was going to affect my snowboarding.
